An Unaccountable Birthday

The original itinerary for the cruise said we would pass the International Dateline on Oct 3, loosing Oct 4. I thought it was lucky that we just missed skipping my birthday, Oct 3. A week into the cruise they passed out an updated itinerary showing that we would actually miss Oct 3, so no birthday for me this year! Mel said I get to stay the same age for another year. I don't think so. I decided to celebrate on Oct 4 since it was the day after Oct 2 so my birthday. One of our tablemates gave me some nice earrings, the others gave me cards. One card is the watercolor she made in class on board, very nice. We will decorate our cabin with it. Our travel agent threw their first cocktail party. I figured that was for my birthday too. I had ordered a raspberry cheesecake for dessert. It was beautiful and everyone at the table enjoyed it. About 10 of the wait staff stood around our table and sang the Indonesian version of Happy Birthday. Mel gave me a gorgeous tanzanite ring from the ship's shop. On our bed when we returned to the room was a plate of chocolate covered strawberries from the ship. It was a nice birthday even if it was the 4th of Oct. 

Four more sea days have passed. Once again it will be great to get to land tomorrow. The days have been very pleasant. I get up and make my latte then read in bed for a bit. Mel brings me breakfast, usually fresh pineapple. He's been up for several hours by the time he brings it to me. I then read some more, watch a movie in the cabin or go to a lecture or cooking demo, then it is time for lunch. After lunch I do 10 1/2 laps around the deck which is 3 miles. Then it is time to cool off and take a shower. Another movie or lecture or maybe book club which I joined, then dinner. After dinner Mel usually goes to the show. I go to a few. If not I read or watch another movie. Pretty leisurely and nice but after a number of days of this I am definitely ready for something different. Tomorrow we will be at Majuro, yea!
